THEY ARE BACK!! By popular demand, we have a obtained a number of brand new Edmund/SCIENTIFICS “Star and Planet Locators”.
These planispheres are designed for 40 degrees North latitude. Although these will work fine for most northern temperate latitudes, please make sure this is the one you want.
We actually sell lots of these at the Okie-Tex and Nebraska Star Parties- they are extremely useful! These are very handy planispheres, used to locate and identify stars, constellations, and planets in the night sky. Simply dial in the date and time, face south, hold the locator over your head, and compare the night sky to the locater. Arguably much better than any “app”- and quite accurate. Apps tend to get disoriented, causing confusion to people trying to really learn the night sky.
This is how most real astronomers learned the night sky! Comes with a very handy + informative, easy to read instruction booklet (the booklet alone is worth the price!).
A convenient chart on back of planisphere indicates what constellation the visible planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) are in, through the year 2022! Measures 8.5″ square.
